Clients: Made in conjunction with Western Neighborhoods Projects, San Francisco
The great earthquake of 1906 reduced the city of San Francisco to rubble. The Earthquake Shacks of San Francisco were temporary accommodation provided by the city to rehabilitate refugees of the earthquake. In time these were dismantled or taken by horse carriages to far off corners of the city. Some of these shacks were later abandoned and some lovingly cared for an inhabited. The Western Neighborhoods Projects has been working hard at identifying and restoring these shacks and getting them their rightful place in San Francisco history.
